FAQs

What is Techbench?

We are a new type of venture capital company providing corporates and investors advice and direct connection to outstanding technology based companies. We focus on obtaining strategic and financial value while discovering and managing a portfolio of socially impactful startups. We operate as a VC as-a-service (VCaaS) company.

What is VC as-a-Service (VCaaS)?

As a VC as-a-Service we help corporates do external innovation successfully without the need to necessarily build their own CVC fund or invest in an external VC fund. Our suite of services includes strategic needs assessment, startups discovery, deal management, ongoing innovation monitoring and startups portfolio management. Unlike a traditional VC, we do not raise or manage funds nor we charge management fees.

What countries & sectors do we focus on?

We focus on Israeli and Australian startups growth (early-advance product stage). We help Australian investors and corporates, invest in and partner with the best Israeli and Australian startups. We also represent some of Israel’s best tech companies helping them raise money, find partners and expand to the Australian and SEA markets. We particularly like startups with strong social impact in areas such as Healthtech, Agritech, Watertech, Energy, Industry 4.0 and Cyber Security.

Why is Techbench needed?

While Australia is successfully growing its innovation ecosystem, corporates and investors have a lot to gain from having greater exposure to some of the most successful tech ecosystems in the world. We provide technology benchmarking opportunities accelerating the development and adoption of new and socially impactful technologies in Australia. Corporate Venturing Capital (CVC) is relatively new in Australia and Australian corporates often lack the skills and experience in building and running successful CVC activities. Techbench expertise derives from its founder experience working for Intel Capital which is considered one of the earliest and most successful CVC companies in the world.

What is our advantage?

The founder of Techbench has been involved in corporate innovation, strategy and technology investments for over 25 years in Israel, the US and Australia. Together with the rest of the Techbench team and advisors, we possess unparalleled domain expertise, network and cultural diversity understanding. We act as Australian corporates' and investors' eyes and ears in Israel making sure they are able to maximise opportunities to invest and partner with the best of Israel's technology companies.

What is our startup selection criteria?

We select our startups based on their team capabilities, proven traction, product maturity, market scalability, social impact and Australian relevancy.

Who are our partners?

We partner with universities, research institutions, VC funds, incubators, accelerators, service providers and other organisations that are involved in supporting startups globally.
