Keeping up with the drones: tools to wield technology for success

Updated: Nov 26, 2019

Corporate executive programs provide tools to equip employees with the necessary outlook and skills of tomorrow

The speed at which technology is transforming the way businesses operate is faster than ever. But technology is something corporations, and particularly MNC’s, can capitalise to stay successful in a rapidly evolving market.

AI-driven technological innovation is the biggest differentiator in competitive advantage

Tech innovation and digitisation may appear different between verticals, and its potential to change industries has not gone unnoticed. Just last week at the Techtonic National AI Summit in Canberra, the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews spoke on the emergence of AI-driven solutions in Australia’s future economy, with a government-backed commitment on healthcare, agriculture, and smart cities.

AI-driven technological innovation is the biggest differentiator in competitive advantage, according to Deloitte Insights. It is paramount for businesses to wield technology as a tool to stay relevant to consumer trends. Technology affords a corporation to be more than just responsive to market trends, it affords them to be instructive and ahead of the market.

So how does a forward-thinking corporation translate its innovative aspirations into practice? In the face of digitisation, businesses are realising the value of upskilling their employees. Corporate executive programs provide tools to equip employees with the necessary outlook and skills of tomorrow.

To achieve corporate innovation, Techbench Capital is offering tailored programs for executives to learn from those who have challenged the norm and wielded technology for success.

Take, for example, the ‘Startup Nation’ as a world leader in transformative technology. For a nation of 9 million people, it is home to 500 MNCs with R&D centres. Israel has a small domestic market, and so startups from day 1 have a direct-to-export mindset. The global awareness of this nation has resulted in 1500 investors from 30 countries, with VC funding at a staggering $674 USD per capita.

Australian businesses know that to succeed in an increasingly digital world, they must also dig deeper into scaling home-grown technologies for global impact. The goal is to inspire corporate executives through immersion in a fast-paced, hi-tech, globally-connected ecosystem with an entrepreneurial ethos. Only by upskilling our employees can we also start to wield technology as a tool to digitise and globalise our economy.

Techbench Capital has a standing partnership with IDC Herzliya, one of Israel's leading entrepreneurship and innovation universities. Through this partnership, Techbench Capital is tailoring innovation and entrepreneurial programs for corporate executives to travel to Israel. This opportunity to be immersed in the Israeli startup ecosystem is open to executives at all levels and are flexible in duration and content.

These mentorship programs include (but are not limited to) strategic thinking to enable businesses to survive ambiguity, systematic creativity to help corporates innovate on-demand, and intrapreneurship- where executives gain tools for internal innovation to confront outside disruption.

As an example of tailored programs, in January 2020 Techbench Capital with be leading a group of 30 graduate students from the Australian Graduate School of Management at UNSW in a month-long practical entrepreneurship program with IDC Herzliya. The students will gain practical skills by working with Israeli startups and have opportunities to experience disruptive technology first-hand.
